The first thing you want to be familiar with is that most wildlife species can be as threatened or as endangered as to individual species. As a system manager, you can help wildlife to select, protect, and grow. You can determine how those species are likely to be managed, by establishing existing lists of animals under which to include them; what types of environmental protections are available under which species; at what locations, in what state, and by why; and what type of habitat alternatives the species could have. Diane and I had to speak with you about our efforts to manage a lake that we believe is growing, is thriving and needs to be re-excavated. In this session we talked with the Lake Michigan Water Conservancy, Department of Natural Resources, Water Resources Management and the Executive Board of Lake Michigan and provide a four-part series on this unique creation. Lake Michigan is undergoing a difficult transition. The University of Michigan’s U-M College of Agriculture and Biosafety, in partnership with the University of California-Berkeley, with the assistance of its partnership with the University of California, San Diego, whose two USED classes are focused on forest resources and water conservation, will now begin taking over Lake Michigan entirely in 2007, and the status of its aquatic system will be on the table until the end of this year. With this partnership, an annual recreation and conservation program for Lake Michigan is imminent; hence, the creation of the Lake Michigan Renovation and Restoration Program. It is suggested that the President, the B-52’s SAC President, Mottram, and the Council of Conservation and Public Works enjoy some consideration for a new conservation program if programs like that are not completed.
