School sometimes asks our children to do extra school work especially if they have an extra day off. But why is homework always assumed to be about school work? Isn’t it more about having fun while doing the school work? Of course it is.
Many parents would say that homework is part of the growing up experience. Kids should learn how to handle their time, so that they can grow up being responsible individuals who know how to manage their time effectively. This is why you see kids doing chores, instead of doing their homework or doing their schoolwork. Children should also be given a free hand to decide how much homework they are going to do. As long as they are doing something that interests them, it is homework.
Parents should encourage their children to do their homework by giving rewards and prizes. Giving a small treat to your child for doing good is a good choice. You could also give them something that they like such as toys, stickers, etc. If the homework is easy, the child will be more willing to continue doing it.
If your child does not do his homework well, the first thing you should do is discuss it with him. The reason for this is because some children do not like homework, while others are too involved with school work. Talking about it with your child can help get them to do it.
The next step is to make sure that the child understands what he is doing. Homework is something that is assigned to a student in order to help them get good grades in school. Your child needs to know that school work is important, and that he/she is not a child that gets a free pass at doing school work. The child needs to know that the assignment is coming and that they need to do it. If your child is confused as to what is expected, then he/she may need to talk to his teacher about it.
One of the biggest problems that many children have is that they hate getting homework. They dread sitting down with their classmates, writing reports, and working on projects. Some of the tips that parents can use include making homework fun, having colors and papers available, allowing the child to pick which projects he/she will do, and spending sometime with the child after school so that they can discuss what they have done.
One of the reasons that homework is such a big deal is because some students don’t like to do it. Parents should try to work with their child (Ren) to get them to do it as much as possible. If you are struggling to find an answer to the question, “is it homework?”
There is no right or wrong answer to the question, “is it homework?”. It depends on the situation. For example, if a student does a good job on his homework and gets rewarded with extra credit or even a good grade, that is great. If the child sits down and continues to do poorly on his assignments and doesn’t get rewarded, that is not good. Homework can vary in value depending on how the teacher and parents to define the task.
It is important to keep in mind that a child who does well in school usually does a lot of homework. The more homework that a child does, the more he/she gets rewarded. In the classroom, teachers expect homework to be done by all students. It is part of standardized testing at schools across the country.
It is important for parents to remember that children usually do best when they feel that they are being cared for. This includes getting homework completed, keeping their manners and working toward a goal. So, it is important for parents to take a good look at how their child is performing in school and ask themselves, is it homework? Then, if the answer is yes, then it is what you want it to be.
